A pro bono bankruptcy is a bankruptcy that an attorney does for free.

We offer one pro bono Chapter 7 bankruptcy per month. We offer this service first to single women with children and then to the elderly who are in financial distress.

We do not charge a fee for this bankruptcy, but we do require the client to pay the Clerk of Court's filing fee and pay for a credit report. Our representation does not include the prosecution of any litigation, the defense of any challenge, such as an objection to discharge, or any other matter other than an uncontested Chapter 7 proceeding.

These are the conditions for this service.

  • If the debtor is a single woman with children, she must be employed and have a gross income of less than $25,000 per year. If the debtors are elderly, they must be in significant need and unable to pay a fee.

  • The debtor resides in Dallas, Collin, Denton, Ellis or Grayson County.

  • The debtor must have no other source of funding, such as relatives.

  • There must be no complicating issues related to the bankruptcy, such as non-exempt property, a history of business dealings, real estate purchases, partnership interests, complications relating to divorce or fraud.

  • The debtor must agree to promptly complete all bankruptcy paperwork and to respond to calls.
