Unfortunately, there are a large number of single women with children who have been forced into the position of having to both raise children and to provide their familiy's income. From a technical standpoint, the bankruptcy of a single woman with children is normally a simple bankruptcy that requires little technical expertise. It is not, however, an easy procedure when one takes into account that the goal is not simply to obtain a discharge of debt, but to utilize the bankruptcy to place the client on stable financial ground and enable her to live debt free. |
Doing this with a limited income and the unlimited expenses and potential expenses that children bring to parents is no easy task. Further complicating the scenario may be a recent divorce and uncontrollable emotional pain. Our office has a pro bono program for single mothers who cannot otherwise afford to hire counsel. |
