Bankruptcy of Renovators

Not a difficult bankruptcy, but your assets and your essential vendors must be protected if you are to continue in the trade after filing.

The danger here is, as in building contractors, not paying your subs and material men. There is a law in Texas called the Contractor's Trust Fund Law that declares that all funds that you receive for a job must be used to pay the subs and material suppliers first. If you use them for another job, you run the risk of criminal prosecution if your business fails.

It is essential that you recognize the danger early, obtain competent counsel and avoid the worst.

Otherwise, also as explained in sub-contractors, you have the most effective means of collecting what you are owed. It is called a lien. Use it.
