Bankruptcy of Printers

Printers present a unique bankruptcy. The reason is that their equipment is extremely expensive to move. And old machines may be worth less that the cost would be to move them. This presents a scenario that places the debtor in a better bargaining position that most other business owners.

On the flip side, the landlord is in a particularly advantageous position, because the debtor, who is having financial problems, cannot move.

So, for the printer, the lease is often the starting point. Otherwise the printer does not differ significantly from other businesses.
