Qualifications

Charles Chesnutt, Sr.

Mr. Chesnutt has practiced only bankruptcy and bankruptcy related law since 1986. He is an av rated attorney and a member of the Martindale-Hubble List of Preeminent Lawyers in the United States. Martindale-Hubble is the national standard for ranking attorneys.

Mr. Chesnutt has been Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the fields of Business Bankruptcy and Consumer Bankruptcy Law since 1991. He has also been board certified by the American Board of Bankruptcy Certification since 1991. He is licensed to practice law in Texas and in Louisiana and is a frequent speaker in the field of Bankruptcy Law.

He has qualified as a Chapter 11 Trustee, serves as an elected Chapter 7 trustee and handles Chapter 11 reorganizations for businesses and individuals.

His expertise and experience are well suited to:

  • Complicated individual bankruptcies including problems relating to business debt, guarantors, taxes, phantom gains, foreclosures, liens, divorce, debts related to credit cards and asset protection;

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of the South (1969), a Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University (1973), and a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary (1983), has won appeals in the highest state courts. He is 60 years old, has been married for 29 years and is the father of four children.

Carolyn Chesnutt

A graduate of Tulane Law School, Carolyn is admitted to practice in the Federal Courts of the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. Before moving to Texas, she worked for the Louisiana State Attorney General's Office.  Carolyn also served as a staff attorney providing legal services for the elderly poor with the Louisiana Center for the Public Interest. In this capacity, she organized lawyer referral services with local Bar Associations for the Area Agencies on Aging.  Concerned with the numbers of consumers who are misled by unscrupulous sellers of debt solutions, Carolyn offers a specialized and personal approach to financial difficulties.  She is a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA).
