Mr. Chesnutt is an attorney who has practiced only bankruptcy and bankruptcy related law full time since 1986. He is an av rated lawyer and a member of the Martindale-Hubble List of Preeminent Lawyers in the United States. Martindale-Hubble is the national standard for ranking attorneys. The av rating is the highest rating.

Mr. Chesnutt has been Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the fields of Business Bankruptcy and Consumer Bankruptcy Law since 1991. He has also been board certified by the American Board of Bankruptcy Certification since 1991. He is licensed to practice law in Texas and in Louisiana and is a frequent speaker in the field of Bankruptcy Law.

He has qualified as a Chapter 11 Trustee, served as an elected Chapter 7 trustee and handles Chapter 7, Chapter 13 and Chapter 11 reorganizations for businesses and individuals.

Mr. Chesnutt's expertise and experience are well suited to:

  • Complicated individual bankruptcies including problems relating to business debt, guarantors, taxes, phantom gains, foreclosures, liens, divorce, debts related to credit cards and asset protection;

  • Classic Chapter 11 and 13 reorganization and restructuring through Chapter 7;

  • Single and Group creditor representation with contingent fee agreements

  • Representation of creditors in involuntary bankruptcy collection procedures;

  • Opposition to bankruptcies in the form of collateral attacks, defenses to preference actions, objections to discharge, objections to exemptions and other defenses.

Mr. Chesnutt holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of the South (1969), a Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University (1973), and a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary (1983), has won appeals in the highest state courts. He is 59 years old, has been married for 28 years and is the father of four children.
